Despicable Me: Minion Rush is highly addicting and if you're anything like me, you've probably spent several hours running your minion through different stages in order to collect bananas, Gru tokens, and fruit. The further you get into the Jelly Labs, the harder the challenges become. Luckily that doesn't mean you need to spend real world money in order to advance. From gift code combinations to using your Gru tokens wisely, here are our top tips, hints, and cheats for advancing in Minion Rush, no real money required!
The most obvious tip I can give you that will cost you nothing is to collect as many bananas as you can. Most character upgrades and level ups can be purchased in game with just the bananas you collect. Sometimes I'll run through levels just to collect bananas and stock up.
If you aren't opposed to spending some money, the one thing you absolutely should by is the Golden Banana. It will give you double points for each banana you collect, forever. That means you will be able to buy upgrades with your bananas twice as fast, indefinitely.
Connecting to Facebook not only allows you the ability to send your entertaining friends taunts and challenges but also gives you extra Gru tokens just for connecting. So if you have a Facebook account, make sure you link it up. You'll also earn a Gru token each day that you connect to Facebook through Minion Rush, and since tokens are hard to come by, 1 a day adds up!
Once you've unlocked the PX41 serum, you'll be able to transform into Evil Minion. While in this mode, you'll be able to destroy anything in your path. When you're faced with a challenge that requires you to have an insanely high Despicable bonus, or you need to plow past a tough obstacle so you don't have to cash in Gru tokens to continue, these are the times you'll want to activate the Evil Minion. Just remember you can only use it every few hours so use it with care.
As you get further into runs, you'll notice bonus items that you can use to help you along. Powering these up can be done from the main menu. You'll have to cash in your bananas and tokens though so it's important to choose wisely. For example, if you're going into a challenge that requires you to break through a lot of ice using the freeze ray, level up the freeze ray by cashing in bananas. This will make the challenge a lot easier and allow you to advance faster.
There are a few power-ups that are always safe bets and always benefit you, and those are the ones that net you large amounts of bananas. So be sure to level up the Banana Splitter and the Fluffy Unicorn whenever you can. More bananas means more upgrades.
You may notice that each level gives you suggestions on what costume you should wear. This isn't for no reason. Different costumes have different powers or benefits and if you're performing a challenge that requires you to have a huge Despicable bonus, it's probably best you use the costume that extends the XXL Minion. This theory applies to lots of other challenge and costume pairs as well. So if you're stuck on a challenge, re-evaluate what you're wearing and see if a costume change will improve your odds.
Minion Rush isn't like other games such as Candy Crush. You have an infinite amount of runs and for the most part, getting a super long run doesn't do anything but boost your top score. You also only need one fruit item to unlock the next level so if you've already got that, don't waste your precious Gru tokens. They are always better spent on costumes, items, and upgrades.
Instead, just start the run over in order to complete it. I can't think of any scenario where you'd need to cash in tokens to continue a run, unless you're really having a hard time. However, with the new Jelly Labs mode of play, most challenges can be completed in shorter runs as long as you choose costumes and upgrades wisely.
While in Gru's lab, watch for an area where you see bananas off the track and on a pipe off to the right. You can steer towards that for an awesome bonus portion of the game in the Disco Room.
Minion Rush has a section in the settings panel for gift codes. Here are the combinations of minions to use in order to unlock the corresponding prize:
The codes above are verified as working as of the end of August 2014. If you find any more that work, feel free to leave them in the comments and we'll check these regularly and update! If they don't work for you anymore, please let us know that too!
While you only need one fruit to advance to the next level, you can keep running in order to collect 2 more. Essentially, this is just like getting a 3 star bonus. Some items you'll want to collect can be obtained through collecting enough fruits in each stage, like puzzle pieces to unlock costumes. You may be able to advance but you'll need a specific number to collect a silver prize pod, even more for a Despicable multiplier. Both are worth having so trace your steps and be sure you're completing each level to the best of your ability.
This goes along with my tip about Facebook but in case you didn't realize, every day that you log in to Minion Rush, you'll get a banana bonus. This isn't dependent on Facebook so even users that don't tie to a Facebook account will get the banana bonus daily. If you do though, you'll also get a Gru token for coming back every day.

The Define option in the iPhone and iPad text selector popup gives you dictionary definitions for most common words. It's convenient because it can be accessed in only a couple of taps. But what if you're in England and the U.S. dictionary keeps coming up? What if you also speak Italian or Japanese or Chinese and want to access those definitions as well? What if you're traveling and want access to French? Luckily, iOS makes it easy to add and manage additional dictionaries so you can have the languages you want right where you want them!
Now try defining a word again and you should see all the dictionaries you have installed in iOS now.
That's all there is to it. If you ever want to remove a dictionary just tap the "x" next to the dictionary name. Give it a try and let me know in the comments how it works for you! Is it a feature you can see yourself using? Had you already used it previously?
We’re almost a quarter way through 2014, and it seems some Apple shareholders have ants in their pants. They’re impatient and want to see what Tim Cook’s team is going to do in a new product category, be it an iWatch, Apple television, or something else entirely. I guess it isn’t enough for Apple to be so utterly dominant in mobile computing, an industry trend that will keep chugging along for the next decade?
Let’s do a quick review of what Cook has actually said about new product categories this year. On the last conference call (January 2014), analyst Gene Munster asked, and Tim Cook offered up a very clear answer. Here’s a snippet of the relevant part of the transcript
Gene Munster: In the previous quarters, you’ve talked about specifically product categories multiple, and that’s different than variations of existing products. And that would be by the end of 2014. I just want to be clear that’s still on track, and consistent with some of the expenses that we talked about earlier in the call?
Tim Cook: Yes, absolutely. No change.
Later, in February Cook was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal, and when pushed to give up some detail about what’s coming, all he would say is that any “reasonable person” would consider what they’re working on to be a new category. This muddied the waters just enough to cast some doubt on the company’s efforts. Perhaps Cook thinks some people, who are less reasonable, will say Apple’s new stuff isn’t really new but instead a spin on some existing product?
So here we are at the end of March. Apple’s stock price is actually down a bit so far in 2014 while Microsoft, Google and the broader market indices are trading higher. I take a long term perspective on stocks, but most people don’t. So I get the frustration. But we have to remember that Cook said that a new product category would roll out this year, not this spring. Give the guy a break. We’re still very early into the year.
Here’s a quote from Cook’s answer to Gene Munster on the last conference call that I think does a nice job of summing up Apple’s thinking.
Tim Cook: I would just say, Innovation is deeply embedded in everybody here, and there’s still so much of the world that is full of very complex products, etc. We have zero issue coming up with things we want to do that we think we can disrupt in a major way. The challenge is always to focus to the very few that deserve all of our energy. And we’ve always done that, and we’re continuing to do that.
The key to what he said, I believe, lies in the phrase “very complex products”. Apple has always been amazing at taking complicated things and making them super simple. Maybe that’s what the new health initiative is all about? Maybe they have other big ideas we don’t know about yet. Either way, I agree with the company rolling out products when they are ready, not when they feel pressure from Wall Street.
The very best CEOs do not act because of Wall Street. They just act on business opportunities and Wall Street reacts. I want Apple to keep doing what it’s always done.

The sun emitted a significant solar flare that peaked at 12:14 a.m. EST on Nov. 10, 2013. Solar flares are powerful bursts of radiation. Harmful radiation from a flare cannot pass through Earth's atmosphere to physically affect humans on the ground, however -- when intense enough -- they can disturb the atmosphere in the layer where GPS and communications signals travel.
To see how this event may impact Earth, please visit NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center at http://spaceweather.gov, the U.S. government's official source for space weather forecasts, alerts, watches and warnings.
This flare is classified as an X1.1 class flare. "X-class" denotes the most intense flares, while the number provides more information about its strength. An X2 is twice as intense as an X1, an X3 is three times as intense, etc.
Increased numbers of flares are quite common at the moment, since the sun's normal 11-year activity cycle is ramping up toward solar maximum conditions. Humans have tracked this solar cycle continuously since it was discovered in 1843, and it is normal for there to be many flares a day during the sun's peak activity. The first X-class flare of the current solar cycle occurred on February 15, 2011, and the largest X-class flare in this cycle was an X6.9 on August 9, 2011. This is the seventh significant flare since Oct. 23, 2013, with the largest being an X3.3 on Nov. 5, 2013.

A new hypersonic spy plane, capable of flying up to six times faster than the speed of sound, is being developed by aerospace giant Lockheed Martin Corp., according to company officials.
The new aircraft, known as the SR-72, is the unmanned successor to Lockheed's SR-71 Blackbird, a twin-engine, two-seater, supersonic aircraft that was developed in the 1960s. The company's new spy plane will be able to fly twice as fast as the Blackbird and three times faster than current fighter jets, accelerating to Mach 6, which is six times the speed of sound, or more than 3,500 mph (5,600 km/h).
The hypersonic SR-72 also will be able to fly to any location within an hour, which could be revolutionary for the military, said Brad Leland, Lockheed Martin's program manager for hypersonics. [In Photos: The 10 Fastest Military Airplanes]
"Hypersonic is the new stealth," Leland told Reuters. "Your adversaries cannot hide or move their critical assets. They will be found. That becomes a game-changer."
Furthermore, Lockheed is designing the spy plane using existing technology, which could help the company develop a prototype in five or six years for under $1 billion, he added.
Lockheed is aiming to fly a missile to demonstrate the new technology as early as 2018, and Leland said operational SR-72s could be in service by 2030, according to Aviation Week, which was first to report on the new project.
"What we are doing is defining a missile that would have a small incremental cost to go at hypersonic speed," Leland told Reuters.
The SR-72 is being developed by Skunk Works, Lockheed's California-based advanced research program that previously worked on the SR-71 Blackbird and the famed U-2 spy plane.
The hypersonic SR-72 will feature a two-phase propulsion system, which uses a basic jet turbine to accelerate the plane to Mach 3. Lockheed is collaborating with rocket and missile propulsion manufacturer Aerojet Rocketdyne to incorporate this turbine with an air-breathing, supersonic ramjet engine to propel the vehicle from standstill to Mach 6.
The new spy plane will build upon Lockheed's previous experimental hypersonic programs, such as the Hypersonic Technology Vehicle 2, or HTV-2, which was developed as part of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's (DARPA's) Falcon Project.
In 2011, the unmanned, arrow-shaped HTV-2 glider reached Mach 20 and controlled itself for approximately three minutes, before crashing into the Pacific Ocean. During the flight, surface temperatures on the vehicle reached 3,500 degrees Fahrenheit (1,930 degrees Celsius), which is hotter than a blast furnace capable of melting steel.
The SR-72's predecessor, the SR-71 Blackbird, could accelerate to Mach 3.3 (more than 2,200 mph, or 3,540 km/h) at an altitude of 80,000 feet (24,400 m). The Blackbird made its first flight in December 1964, and was flown by the U.S. Air Force until 1998. The two-seater aircraft was capable of outracing potential threats during reconnaissance missions, including being able to accelerate and out-fly surface-to-air missiles if it was detected.

MIAMI (AP) — Miami Dolphins tackle Jonathan Martin hasn't complained to the organization about bullying by other players.
Martin left the Dolphins on Oct. 28 to receive help for emotional issues, raising questions about the role teasing from teammates played in his sudden departure.
"The notion of bullying is based on speculation and has not been presented to us as a concern from Jonathan or anyone else internally," the team said in a statement Sunday. "The Miami Dolphins, including coach Joe Philbin and Jonathan's teammates, have been in communication with Jonathan and his family since his departure from the club, and continue to be in contact. Our primary concern for Jonathan is his overall health and well-being."
The Dolphins have attributed Martin's absence to an illness not tied to football.
"The NFL offered its assistance during this time, which we appreciated and gladly accepted," the statement said.
The NFL Players Association is not investigating Dolphins players regarding possible harassment, the statement said. On Saturday, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press the union planned to look into the matter in the coming week.
It's unclear whether or when Martin is expected back. The Dolphins (4-4) had the weekend off and next play at Tampa Bay on Nov. 11.
Martin, a second-year pro from Stanford, played in Miami's loss at New England on Oct. 27 and was at the Dolphins' complex the next day before leaving the team. He missed Thursday night's victory over Cincinnati.
